About this cause

The Aboriginal Literacy Foundation’s ASPIRE Program will support Indigenous girls throughout their upper primary and secondary years. Weekly sessions will provide one-on-one or small group tuition and also provide professional development seminars on such topics as resume writing and job interviews.

ASPIRE is based on a successful model that is inclusive of traditional Indigenous skills and knowledge: we believe that incorporating heritage into the experience of Indigenous students can have great benefits in developing self-confidence and engagement with their education. Students will learn heritage skills such as painting and basket weaving.

The program also aims to provide excellent mentoring and pastoral care for the girls as they look towards further education or employment opportunities.
