On 8th November 2025 I will be paddling my kayak 111km overnight on the Hawkesbury River from Windsor to Mooney Mooney in the annual Hawkesbury Canoe Classic event.
Silly idea? Some might say that. 🤷
Raising funds for an important cause? Absolutely! ✅
This ultra-marathon paddle is something I have been wanting to do since I fell in love with the sport a few years ago. It will be a personal test of endurance, stamina and character. I am hoping to find my limits over this 11 hour paddle and summon the strength to push past them. Even when I am 70kms into the paddle during the dark night, on the river with a sore back, blisters and desperately wanting to be in bed!
If you are in a position to donate, please consider contributing to this cause. The funds raised by the Hawkesbury Canoe Classic contribute to a donation for the Arrow Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation.
About Arrow Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation:
Each year, thousands of Australians are diagnosed with leukaemia, lymphoma, or myeloma, and many more are diagnosed with autoimmune diseases such as MS, blood diseases like anaemia, and other non-malignant diseases. In many cases a bone marrow or stem cell transplant offers the best chance for recovery.
Arrow Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation is dedicated to helping medical researchers find better treatments - and one day hopefully cures - for diseases treatable by bone marrow transplants.
The difference they have made to so many people is extraordinary and I know there are many others that would benefit from their work. But they need more funding to make that happen.
I would be extremely grateful for your donation and support, it will keep me powering down the river knowing the difference every dollar will make.
Cheers and let's get paddling!
Andrew
