To our Firbank community,
We are excited to announce our partnership with Flying Fox, a local non-for-profit organisation offering opportunities for young people with disabilities.
At the beginning of the Term 3 holidays, we (a group of Year 11 & 12 students) will take on the responsibility to care for and support teenagers with disabilities over a 3-day program. We are really looking forward to giving back to the community and creating lasting memories together. Our preparations have included over 10 hours of training sessions and meetings. We covered topics such as medical & social models of disabilities, language and communication styles and learnt valuable strategies to support the participants on the program.
Our ambitious fundraising goal is $5,000 by the end of Term 3, which will help fund this experience and also go towards other meaningful projects at Flying Fox. We would love your help in bringing this program to reality for these deserving participants. All contributions are tax deductible.
Please consider the following donation amounts:
$51 = 51% of Australians living with a disability are females
$44 = 44% of people with a disability avoid situations because of their disability
$36 = 36% of people with a disability experience discrimination on a daily basis
$18 = Approx 18% of the Australian population live with a disability
$10 = 1 in 10 school students with a disability need support at school but do not receive it
Any donations, big or small, would be greatly appreciated.
