This Easter Sunday was supposed to be a calm and peaceful day at the shelter, but it turned into a race against time to save the life of one of our most beloved dogs — Misty.
Misty has had a rough start. She's been with us at the shelter for a while now and, despite a few promising meet-and-greets where she was an absolute star, no one has officially taken her home yet. But Misty doesn't let that get her down. She truly enjoys her time with us, soaking up love from our staff and greeting every new face with gentle curiosity and a wagging tail.
On Easter morning, something wasn’t right. Misty was acting strange — quiet, uncomfortable, not her usual serene self. Thanks to our vigilant and highly trained staff, we recognized the signs early and rushed her to the emergency vet. The diagnosis: bloat, a life-threatening condition that needed immediate surgery.
Misty was whisked into emergency surgery. Thankfully, her stomach hadn't twisted severely enough to cause major damage, but the vets had to stitch her stomach to prevent this from ever happening again. The cause remains unclear — Misty is a calm, gentle dog — but the condition was unavoidable and critical.
Thanks to the incredible emergency vet team, Misty pulled through. She’s now recovering beautifully under the watchful care of our dedicated staff. But we need your help.
The total cost for Misty's surgery and two nights at the emergency hospital came to $5,500. As a nonprofit shelter, we rely heavily on the generosity of our community to help dogs like Misty get the care they need — when they need it most.
Please consider donating to Misty’s fund. Every dollar goes directly toward covering her medical costs and ongoing recovery care. Help us give Misty the second chance she so deeply deserves.
With your support, Misty can continue her healing journey — and hopefully, finally, find the forever home she’s been waiting for.
💛 Thank you for being part of Misty’s story.
